| And remember: without you, all we are is loud. No pressure. Vivian Campbell
And so, welcome to the new, improved Def Leppard web site, guaranteed to get out those stubborn stains that other bands can't remove. Vivian Campbell
Being a songwriter, singer, and a great part of a unit is more important than being Joe Guitar Hero. Vivian Campbell
Def Leppard is a rock band that can sing. Vivian Campbell
Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed! Vivian Campbell
I actually knew I was going to be perfect for Def Leppard, sorry I hate to say that but I knew it. Vivian Campbell
I always knew that Def Leppard were a band, who wrote songs, who lived in the same house, while they were writing the songs, it's sorta like The Monkees, and that's cool! Vivian Campbell
I don't know how anyone could vote Republican. It's so obvious that their only interest is keeping the rich rich. Vivian Campbell
I never had a real job either. I sort of fell out of school and ended up playing guitar. Vivian Campbell
I never had a real job, you know, I always knew I was destined for stardom. That's tongue in cheek by the way in case you haven't noticed. Vivian Campbell
I remember when I was with Dio, I wanted to sing background - and he wouldn't let me! He said, "Guitar players play guitar; singers sing!" Vivian Campbell
I still have people saying to me, 'Oh, you're still together?' They don't realize Leppard's been around this whole time, because people just don't get to hear us. Vivian Campbell
I think the only thing Def Leppard was guilty of in the '80s was having a bunch of bad hairdos. And perhaps some bad fashion mistakes. But who in the '80s wasn't guilty of that? Vivian Campbell
I... consider it a great privilege to be part of a band who, as a fan, I have watched grown from young hopefuls to a bona fide rock institution. Vivian Campbell
I've always been a Def Leppard fan because they fuse rock and elements of heavy metal with what are very, very melodic songs. So, ummm, I think it's, for me personally, it's a natural progression to be playing this kind of music. Vivian Campbell
If there is any justice in the world, then eighties rock will never again serve to blight humanity as it did in that dark decade! Vivian Campbell
It's a lot more comfortable, I must say. Ummm, I didn't think I'd be playing with another band, I kinda thought I was through with that, but I make an exception because they're nice people. Vivian Campbell
That's very hard to define. I guess, commitment. I don't believe in love at first sight. I'm in love with my wife, but I don't always feel the same level of love. Your emotions go up and down. The strongest love is between family members, and ultimately, it boils down to commitment. Vivian Campbell
Ummm, I suppose I could make a very good housewife and mother, if all else failed. Vivian Campbell
When I first saw Marc Bolan I was like nine years old, I said, 'That's what I want to do.' The long hair, the makeup, having girls around was cool. Vivian Campbell
Yeah, Yngwie Malmsteen is mind-blowing, but I can't listen to it! At the time I couldn't listen to it! But I grew up wanting to be like that. Vivian Campbell

| Oh, and we cannot forget one of my favorites, the answer to the following question in a Metal Edge Roundup in like 1993:
"What's your favorite sexual fantasy?"
Campbell: "My wife is my favorite sexual fantasy, but there was this cute sheep in Arglow. . ."

| Love this, too. It's an 'unquote.'
Jonesy: Is Ronnie James Dio nice?"
Vivian: <crickets>
Love it! | |

More like trying to hold back from saying, "No, he's vile and heinous!"

I never knew he was so HILARIOUS!
He's very funny. Sometimes it's just a look. I found this hilarious, and I hope it doesn't offend anyone, but. . . Example: we were at the pub in Santa Monica and I had a digital camera and my video camera, a friend next to me also had her camera, and someone else near us did as well. So four cameras are on the table we are sitting around. Viv said, "Gosh, I feel like I'm being stalked by the papparazzi. Look at all of these cameras!" And I said, "Well, at least we're not hiding behind bushes." He just looked at me, and raised one eyebrow, slightly naughty grin on his face, and I knew *exactly* what he was thinking. I mean, we were all female, after all. So I just shrugged, laughed and said, "Yeah, you can take that any way you want to!" He's a bad one, that Campbell!

LOL! Yeah, that's the funniest thing he *never* said. Just high-larious! The Ronnie James "vile and heinous" thing was fun too.

| This is an exchange from the first Clock show I went to. After, Vivian came off the stage and this ensued: Viv: "Aren't you from New York?" Me: "No, I'm the one who lives in Texas, but I saw you in New York." Viv: "Right. But what are you doing here in L.A.?" Me: "I came to see Clock." Viv: (Bursts out laughing) "You're crazy!" He got used to seeing me after that! | |

| Here's a classic from the Q & A with Gordon back in 2003. They're talking about haircuts, and Gord asked how Viv knew when he needed one:
"When I find a small family of voles living in it, then I know it's time for a haircut."

| Some more funnies: "I don't remember any Dio songs. Maybe if he'd paid me more, I'd remember. . ." From: Viv's performance at Guitar Institute of Technology back in the early 90's. Vivian: "I remember this very, very well 'cause this was the week before my first child was born, and we shot it at studio in the crummy part of Hollywood. My mother flew over from Ireland and I wanted to impress her and take her to the video, and it was like worst part of L.A. But it was okay once the door was closed." From: Rock of Ages DVD commentary, "Promises." Vivian: "Standard issue rock star grimace. It's in the manual." From: Rock of Ages DVD commentary, "Women." Vivian: "How 'bout some Crowded House!?" Vanessa, host of Headbanger's Ball for MTV UK: "Um, no Viv." From: MTV UK Headbangers Ball special for Slang. | |

| Forgot about this one, but it's a hoot!
Vivian: "It's called 'UnderDOG, ' you f*ck!"
From: A Clock show, where bandmate PJ Smith announced the song "Underdog" as "Underground."
It's especially funny if you've heard the song, which is really all about being an underdog and worrying that people will expect too much and all of that stuff (how typically VIvian, right?!). So then, PJ got the title wrong! Too funny!

| Brilliant one by Vivian in the new edition of the fanclub newsletter. The question: Which artist would you like to cover a DL song? Vivian: "Most definitely Sting, and the song should be 'LET IT GO'." Hugely hilarious because Sting is into Tantric Sex! Campbell, Campbell, Campbell! | |
